For this, we utilize a 2.5m Nikon laser scanning arm which enables us to reverse engineer components where no drawings are present. The data captured from the scan arm can be output in an STL file or into Solidworks file formats such as .prt, .sldprt and .x_t. Neutral file formats such as IGES or STEP are also supported, enabling us to accommodate the most widely used file types. If it is just a drawing that is required, then that is all that will be supplied but, if the customer requires parts to be manufactured from the drawing created, we have the facility to undertake that as well. We believe the laser scanning service to be especially useful where a complex part is presented and the traditional methods of metrology are too slow or unsuitable for the application.
